Azael Tormo

He was born in Manuel (Valencia) beginning his musical studies at the hand of his father, continuing them at the Conservatories "Mestre Vert" of Carcaixent, Superior of València and Superior of San Sebastián in the specialty of trumpet.

He has taken different courses and seminars on direction, management, pedagogy, analysis, composition and musical teaching with teachers such as Rafael Sanz-Espert, Jose Maria Cervera Collado, Gregory Fritze, Saül Gomez and others.

He has directed in countries such as France, Denmark, Germany, Holland and the USA.

As a director, he has won a large number of awards, including the following Honorable Mentions:

• Winner of the 13th WMC held in Kerkrade 1997, (Holland) in the 2nd section, with a gold medal and Queen Juliana's banner, both in concert and in parade, with l’A. M. de Manuel
• Winner of the 2001 Provincial Music Bands Contest of the Valencia Provincial Council and of the Valencian Community of the same year with l’A. M. de Manuel.
• Winner of the Provincial Contest of music bands of the Valencia Provincial Council 2014 and that of the Valencian Community of the same year with l’A. M. de Beneixida.
• Winner of the 2016 Provincial Music Bands Contest of the Valencia Provincial Council and of the Valencian Community of the same year, with l’A. M. de Beneixida.
• Winner of the 2nd International Competition “Poble de Benimaclet” in 2016, with the U. M. de Gavarda.
• Distinction from the Valencia Provincial Council "Batuta de oro" for having obtained 3 honorable mentions in the aforementioned contest.

In 2001 he inaugurated the band of the Musical Group of Beneixida as director. He is also the founder of Atmk Band.

In his career as a composer, the following awards in recent years stand out among others:

In 2018:

• 1st Prize in the Music Composition Competition Festera Francesc Cerdà de l'Olleria.⎫
• 1st Prize in the III National Contest of Processional Marches of Villarrubia de los Ojos.⎫
• 1st and 2nd prize in the Musica Jove composition contest, in category A and 1st prize in category B.

In 2019:

• 1st Prize in the Music Composition Competition Festera Francesc Cerdà de l'Olleria.⎫
• 2nd Prize in the I Astorga Procession March Contest.⎫
• 1st Prize in the I Pasodobles Contest "Pascual Perez Choví" of Alginet.⎫
• 2nd Prize in the 1st Contest of procession marches of the Royal Congregation of San Isidro de Naturales in Madrid.⎫
• Audience award in the I Composition Contest "Ciudad de Montoro".⎫
• 1st Prize in the IV Contest of composition of pasodobles falleros "Ciutat de Xàtiva".⎫

In 2020:

• 1st Prize in the VIII Composition Contest "Manuel Carrascosa" of Villena.⎫
• 2nd Prize in the I Composition Contest "Manuel Berná" of Albatera.⎫
• 1st Prize in the first section of the XIII Galician Symphonic Band Composition Contest.⎫
• Winner of the Contest to provide the Anthem of the Association of Moros i Cristians de Lleida.⎫
• 1st Prize in the VII Composition Contest for symphonic band "Josep Maria Lleixà Subirats" organized by the Catalan Federation of SM.⎫

He is an arranger and editor of ATOMMUSICA, making the adaptations for band and symphonic orchestra of the shows of renowned artists such as Celtas Cortos, Tamara, La Guardia, La Frontera, Gerónimo Granda, Pipo Prendes, Bajoqueta Rock, Last Days of Eden and others, being his music performed by a large number of bands among which we can name the municipal ones of Valencia, Madrid, Barcelona, Bilbao, Albacete, Alicante, Badajoz, Oviedo, Santander or Soria.

He has been the principal conductor of the bands Manuel, Càrcer, La Llosa de Ranes and Benifaió.

He is currently is the director of the Beneixida Musical Group and the Gavarda Musical Union, both in Valencia.
