"The wind awakens" is the first verse of the poem "Otoño” (Autumn) by Octavio Paz, the starting point of this composition. The text is treated from a creative and non-descriptive perspective. That is to say, it is not attempted to look for descriptive relationships, but to use the original text as a generating element of sound material. On the one hand, the metric of the text generates a sequence from which several parameters of the work derive such as the macrostructure, the microstructure, the harmony, rhythmic elements and morphosyntactic relations, which organize the discourse and the development of the materials throughout the piece. On the other hand, the text provides semantic relationships that are treated through sound material, gestures and sonorities that evoke part of the visual richness of the images emanating from the poem. The work has been expressly written, for its premiere at the Festival Otoño Musical Soriano, by the National Orchestra of Spain and is dedicated to the conductor Edmundo Vidal.
