ERRO I

Solo Snare Drum

Erro means root in Basque, and is a series of pieces for solo instruments which are based on the Basque musical tradition.

Erro I is the first piece of the series, and gathers six types of rhythms and dances: ohorezko kontrapasa/agurra, arin-arin, ezpata dantza, zortziko, fandango and biribilketa.

Apart from using different rhythms, Erro I tries to imitate several percussion instruments, like txalaparta, atabal and ttunttuna. It also makes reference to the Dantzaris, a particular type of dancers that have a strong weight in Basque tradition and folklore.
