Probably the shadow theater dates back to the prehistoric man, when he recreated hand figures in front of fire. In China, Turkey and Cambodia soon acquired artistic and dramatic beyond pure visual entertainment levels. In India and Indonesian culture, shadow puppeteer, called Dalang, acquired the status of priest who could come into contact with the upper world. The shadow takes us to a shapeless world, not created, in which reflects our passions, our fears, our internal divisions. "The shadow does not exist; what you call light shade is you do not see "(Henri Barbusse).
Performer Notes:
The work requires a defined and dramatic body-language. Although it has not been particularly indicated in the score, the performer will choose those movements in line with the sonic gestures, both the electronics and the snare drum. Since the video/score lights the area of the snare drum, black clothes is recommended, absolutely dark scene and a light coming from under the snare drum, so that certain shadows are insinuated with the movement of the performer.
