Commissioned by the Cullera City Council to be a mandatory piece in the LXXVII National Music Band Competition of Cullera in 2025

The extra-musical program of this work is the Battle of Sucro, which was a military confrontation fought in 75 BC. between the optimate legions of the Roman Republic under the command of Gnaeus Pompey the Great and the popular rebels of Quintus Sertorius, in the context of the Sertorian War.

Starting from this fact of ancient history, I have developed the work in four sections, in the manner of a suite, with the following subtitles in each movement:

1- Prelude: the city.

2- Gnaeus Pompey and Quintus Sertorius.

3- The night…the river…

4- The battle of Sucro.
