Snare drum solo

Ricercare for solo snare drum was commissioned by the percussion group "Amores" to be the compulsory piece in the II International Solo Snare Competition within the PERCUTE 2016 festival.

The word Ricercare comes from Italian and means to search, to inquire. This is what this work tries to do, to inquire into all the timbral possibilities that this instrument allows us. 

The work is divided into 5 large contrasting sections, which through different technical procedures, develop two small motifs in an organic way.

The first of them is presented to us at the introduction, a motive of 4 notes related to the 4 syllables of the title of the work. The second is a game of accents that will be transformed throughout the work.
